In preparation for our venture, I had picked up some gorgeously green, organic avocados, some fine-looking organic bananas, along with the additional ingredients we would need to create the skin nourishing mask. Today I noticed that the gorgeously green avocados and fine-looking bananas were not looking soooo attractive anymore... which means, they are ripe and ready! So I decided to go ahead and prepare the face mask, along with a deep conditioning (scrumptious) hair mask, and provide my face and hair with a treat. (Recipes to follow)
Now, why would you want to concoct a face or hair mask when you can purchase one already formulated for you? Well, there are a number of benefits to using a freshly blended mask, here are some of them:
- Fresh ingredients have active vitamins and minerals that help to nourish and replenish the skin.
- Many of the store bought brands have chemical ingredients that don't benefit (and can cause harm to) your skin. Many of these ingredients are used to give the product a 2+ year shelf life. (yikes)
- Creating something with your own two hands, using it and experiencing delightfully pleasing results... what can be better??
- Economically, it is a great way to utilize ripe and ready produce, that might have made its way (sadly) into your green bin before you were able to enjoy it/them. And it cost a fraction of any store bought product.
These Winter skin/hair-soothing masks are a great way to nourish and moisturize your skin and hair while pampering yourself. It works well for all skin types and is particularly beneficial for dry and mature skin. You will find these masks helpful throughout the seasons, whenever skin is dry or affected by the elements (sun, wind, heat, cold even too much time in the water) - whenever your complexion needs some brightening.
Phew... this blog entry is becoming long-winded. I will post the ingredients and recipes with directions very soon.
